McCallum Orchestra About the Fund

The McCallum Orchestra Performance Fund is a non-profit fund administered through the Austin Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) corporation. All donations to the McCallum Orchestra Performance Fund are deductible from federal income taxes to the full extent of the law, and go to support premiere performance opportunities for this award-winning orchestra program at the McCallum Fine Arts Academy in Austin, Texas.

Ranked among the finest public school orchestra programs in the nation, the McCallum Fine Arts Academy Orchestra, comprised of approximately 100 students who come from the Central Texas Area, receives special invitations from outstanding organizations like the Carnegie Hall Masterworks Series to perform major works with nationally recognized musicians and conductors.

The fund was created by individuals in the community who consider music education critical and to support one of the most successful student orchestra programs in Texas. While the McCallum Fine Arts Academy is part of a high achieving, inner city, and diverse public high school with the only fine arts program offered in Austin, this very successful program receives NO SPECIAL FUNDING from the Austin Independent School District, and the McCallum Fine Arts Academy orchestra program is supported solely through the grass roots efforts and donations from the Austin community.

During a time of declining arts curriculum funding in our schools, your assistance is desperately needed. The Fund’s board is entirely volunteer so there are no administration fees for the McCallum Orchestra Performance Fund. Every dollar you donate will go to helping an orchestra student meet his or her potential.
